To know one’s ignorance is wisdom, |

不知，
|
Not knowing this is a flaw. |
|
上矣；
|
The highest virtue is to realize this, |
|
不知，
|
Ignoring knowledge is harmful. |
|
知，
|
Understanding ignorance is key, |
|
病也。
|
Presuming to know is suffering. |
|
圣人不病，
|
The sage is free from suffering. |
|
以其病病。
|
Because they see suffering in presumption. |
|
夫唯病病，
|
Only by acknowledging this suffering, |
|
是以不病。
|
Can one be free from it. |
