圣人常无心,
The sage has no personal mind. |
以百姓心为心。
She adopts the mind of the people. |
善者,
To the good, |
吾善之;
I show goodness; |
不善者,
To the not good, |
吾亦善之;
I also show goodness. |
德善。
This is true virtue. |
信者,
To the trustworthy, |
吾信之;
I show trust; |
不信者,
To the untrustworthy, |
吾亦信之;
I also show trust. |
德信。
This is true trust. |
圣人在天下,
The sage dwells in the world, |
歙歙焉,
Appearing withdrawn, |
为天下浑其心,
She blends her mind with the world's. |
百姓皆注其耳目,
People fix their eyes and ears on her, |
圣人皆孩之。
And she treats them all as her children. |
