道常无为而无不为。

侯王若能守之,

If rulers could embrace this, |
万物将自化。

The myriad things would transform by themselves. |
化而欲作,
|
If they still wished to act, |
吾将镇之以无名之朴。
|
I would guide them with the simplicity of the nameless. |
镇之以无名之朴,
|
Through this nameless simplicity, |
夫亦将不欲。
|
They would cease to desire. |
不欲以静,
|
Without desire, there is tranquility. |
天下将自正。
|
In tranquility, the world finds peace. |
