Know the strength of man, |
Yet embrace the gentleness of woman: |
Be the stream that supports the world. |
When you are the world's stream, |
Constant virtue will not leave you, |
And you return to the innocence of a child. |
Know the clarity of white, |
Yet hold onto the mystery of black: |
Be a pattern for the world. |
As a pattern for the world, |
Constant virtue remains unwavering, |
And you return to the limitless. |
Know the honor, |
Yet keep the humility: |
Be the valley of the world. |
When you are the world's valley, |
Constant virtue is sufficient, |
And you return to the primal simplicity. |
The world is formed from simplicity. |
When simplicity is shaped, it becomes a tool. |
The sage uses it, |
Thus the greatest creations are achieved without cutting. |
